A Guide to The Treatment Modalities we use.
Our Integrative Services
Nutritional Counseling
We place a great deal of emphasis on the importance of proper nutrition in the prevention and treatment of disease. The foods and supplements we prescribe or recommend are all formulated with your companion’s health and longevity in mind.
Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicines come from plants. Plants bring with them their life essence and help heal by their medicinal virtues as well as their vitality. Herbs have been used by every culture since the beginning of time to heal the body, mind and spirit. Herbs may be used whole, dried and placed on food or in capsules, made into liquids or tinctures or other recipes. These are given based on the condition and the weight of the patient. We find them to have a synergistic effect that often treats better than just a man-made chemical rendition of one of the components of the herb (pharmaceutical medicine).
Homeopathy
Homeopathy uses tiny amounts of plant, mineral or animal substances found in nature. These natural substances are diluted with spring water and shaken, or successed, hundreds to thousands of times. During the process of dilution and succession, energy molecules are released into the solution, which activate its healing function. It is this activated energy that stimulates your furchild’s response.
Acupuncture/Acupressure
This modality utilizes the body’s own energy to heal itself. Energy is directed from external pressure points toward and internal organ system to strengthen it, or through muscle circulation to relieve pain. Sterile needles, physical touch and pressure or low level lasers are used to connect with a flow of energy called Qi or Chi. The energy is directed by pressure as well as thought and intention. Our pets usually see this as a form of petting and attention. Who doesn’t like that?
Flower Essences
Flower Essences are Homeopathic dilutions of flowers. The flower essences carry with them emotional stabilizers. We use the flower essences to help balance out fear, worry, depression or anger. We use our own line of Dr. Robin’s Remedies as well as individually crafted essences. There are no side effects found with flower essences, which make them a very safe choice when working with emotional issues in our pets.
Behavioral Modification
This modality is a way of training young animals to become emotionally healthy and stable pets as well as “retraining” older pets to be better fur children. Many times we find poor behaviors are actually learned responses and modifying or breaking the cycle results in happier humans and pets. Sometimes this is as easy as ignoring a “temper tantrum” or having “time out”.
Traditional Western Medicine
We provide standard services such as vaccinations, elective and emergency surgery, dental work and fluid therapy. Internal and external parasite infestations are treated with the appropriate medications and antibiotics and other pharmaceuticals are dispensed as warranted. We employ the use of drugs and other diagnostic tools as needed.
Laboratory Services
Laboratory tests are often invaluable in aiding diagnosis, and we employ a variety of tests including blood and urine tests, feline leukemia and aids testing, fecal examination for parasites, heart worm tests and test for biopsies and cultures.
Euthanasia
We employ euthanasia as a last resort for the terminally ill and for animals injured beyond hope. The doctor will make a personal decision with the family regarding the best interest of the patient. If euthanasia is in the patient’s best interest, then the doctor will perform this service. This can be done at our hospital or as a house call. We do not perform convenience euthanasia. We respect the right of all creatures to die with dignity.
Additional Therapies
We continually seek to expand the range of options for treatments to our clients. We will be glad to listen to your interests in other beneficial options.
